When x = 12, y = 15, find the proportionality constant and write the equation for this variation.

y and x are inversely related; when the value of y is 15, the value of x is 12.
∴ xy = k =15 × 12
⇒ k = 180
So, the constant of proportionality is 180.
The equation of the variation can be written as:
xy = 180
