A mirror is a reflecting surface that forms an image by following the law of reflection.

Identify the type of mirror

By forming images we can identify the type of mirror.

  1. Plane Mirror- In the case of a plane mirror, the image formed will be virtual, erect, and the same as the size of the object.
  2. Concave Mirror- In the case of a concave mirror the image formed may be virtual or real, erect or inverted, magnified or diminished depending upon the position of the object.
  3. Convex Mirror- In the case of a convex mirror the image formed will always be virtual, erect, and diminished.
