Question

You are hurt when you kick a stone. Why?

Open in App
Solution

This happens due to Newton's third law of motion.
To every action, there is always an equal and opposite reaction. When you kick a stone, you apply some force to it.
To maintain the law of conservation of momentum, the stone also exerts a force on the leg, which we feel as pain.
