  1. To measure the density of a solid, we must know the volume and mass of the solid.
  2. Physical balance is used to determine the mass of an object, let it be M.
  3. Measuring cylinder is used to find out the volume
  4. Pour some water into the measuring cylinder and measure the volume.
  5. Note the volume of water from the graduations marked on the measuring cylinder.
  6. Now the given solid to a fine thread and gently lower it in the measuring cylinder, completely immersed in water.
  7. Knowing the mass and volume of the solid, the density can be calculated by the formula:

Density=massvolume=MVg/cm3
