  • Sublimation is the process in which solid changes into the gaseous state without entering into the intermediate liquid state.
  • In other words, A solid substance directly changes into vapor without getting converted into liquid.
  • When naphthalene is mixed with sodium chloride (NaCl), naphthalene being sublimable changes into vapor while sodium chloride which is not sublimable will not get converted into vapor and will remain as it is in solid form.
  • In this way, naphthalene will be separated from sodium chloride.
