You are walking towards the Indian gate. Is the Indian gate at rest with respect to you or is it moving with respect to you?

Solution

  1. Rest and motion are relative terms since they are determined by the observer's point of view.
  2. If an observer is stationary in his or her own frame of reference, he or she may be moving in the frame of reference of another observer.
  3. Because the India gate is not moving, the Indian gate is at a standstill. We have the impression that it is moving since we are approaching it.

As a result, the Indian gate is at rest with us.
