Question 1
You find your mass to be 42 kg on a weighing machine. Is your mass more or less than 42 kg?
Basically weighing machine measure normal force.
It measure Kg-force.
Hint: weighing machine measures the amount of normal acts upon it.
In ideal situation, when we stand on a weighing machine, our weight acts downwards due to gravity, while upthrust due to air acts upwards as we as a body displace the amount of air as we stand upon the weighing machine. This upward force is the buoyant force. As a result, the body gets pushed slightly upwards, causing the weighing machine to show a reading less than the actual value. Thus, the weighing machine measures our apparent weight, which is less than the true weight. The actual mass will be more than 42 kg.
