Solution

Dear Student,

Step1: Fill the 5 litre cup from the tap.

Step2: Take out 3 litre from it by using an empty 3 litre cup.

Step3: Pour away the contents of 3 litre cup.

Step4: Transfer the 2 litre from the larger cup to the smaller one cup.

Now the larger cup is empty and the smaller cup has 1 litre free space.

Step5: Fill the 5 litre cup again from the tap.

Step6: Transfer some litres from the larger cup(5 litres) to the smaller cup (2 litres) till it gets totally full.

Step7:Now the 5 litre cup is containing 4 litre because the 1 litre is transferred to the smaller cup.
