You have an eight-faced die. In this die, one of the faces contains 1, two faces contain 2, three faces contain 3 and other faces contain a 4 and a 5 respectively. What is the probability of getting a 3 when the die is rolled? (All outcomes are equally likely).

Probability of an event

= Number of desired outcomesTotal number of outcomes of the experiment

Total number of outcomes = 8

Number of desired outcomes i.e. getting a 3 = 3(3 faces contain the number 3)

Therefore, Probability of getting a three when the die is rolled is 38.
