Solution

A solution of Ca(OH)2 is used for white washing walls.
CaO+H2OCa(OH)2
Ca(OH)2 reacts with CO2 in the aire to form a thin larger of CaCO3 on the walls. CaCO3 is formed after two to three days of white washing and gives a shiny finish to the walls.
Ca(OH)2(aq)+CO2CaCO3(s)+H2O(l)
