Question

You have three resistors of values 2Ω,3Ω and 5Ω. How will you join them so that the total resistance is more than 7Ω? Calculate the equivalent resistance.

Solution

In order to get more than 7Ω resistance from three resistors 2Ω, 3Ω and 5Ω, we need to connect them in series as shown in the diagram.
Equivalent resistance in series combination is given by Req=R1+R2+R3
Req=2+3+5=10Ω (which is greater than 7Ω)
