Your goal is to raise at least $50in a charity fundraiser. You earn$3.50 for each candle sold. You also receive a $15 donation. Write and solve an inequality that represents the numbers of candles you must sell to reach your goal.

Step 1 : Given In the question

We have,

Goal is to raise at least $50.

He earn for each candle sold =$3.50.

He also receive a donation =$15


As given
Goal 50

Let the candles sold be x
Total money earn by selling x candles=3.5x

Step 2 : Solve the inequality

Now according to given conditions inequality becomes:
3.5x+1550

3.5x5015 [ Subtract15from both sides ]

3.5x35

x353.5 [ Divide both sides by3.5 ]
x10

Hence, This is the required inequality which shows numbers of candles you must sell to reach your goal.
