Ferrous sulphate solution is green in colour. So, when zinc is added to ferrous sulphate solution its green colour will fade away. This happens because zinc is more reactive than iron, and so displaces iron from its salt forming zinc sulphate and iron metal instead. Following is the chemical equation for the reaction

Zn (s) + FeSO4 (aq) → ZnSO4 (aq) + Fe (s)
