Zn2+ salts are white while Cu2+ salts are coloured. Why?

The electronic configuration of Zn2+ and Cu2+ can be given as follow:
Zn2+: [Ar]3d10
Cu2+: [Ar]3d9
Here Cu2+ has one unpaired electron while Zn2+ have all paired electrons.
In d-block elements, the element which has an unpaired electron shows colour.
Thus Cu2+ show colour.
