Question

2Br-+H2O2+2H+Br2+2H2O Rate =k(H2O2)(H+)(Br-) What is the effect on rate constant on increasing bromide ions?

Solution

Effect of Rate constant :

  • The rate constant is an entity that shows how the rate changes with time and the concentration of reactants.
  • In the reaction,

2Br-+H2O2+2H+Br2+2H2O

  • Rate =k(H2O2)(H+)(Br-)
  • As the rate constant is directly proportional to the concentration of bromide ions.
  • So, as the concentration of bromide ion increases the rate constant value increases.

Hence the rate constant goes on increasing if bromide ions increase simultaneously.
