Solution

To factorize 9x2+18x+8split the middle terms

=9x2+12x+6x+8

( Split the middle term in such a way that the Sum of the split terms should be equal to the middle terms (12x+6x=18x) and its product should be equal to the product of the coefficient of x2and constant term 12×6=9×8=72)

=3x(3x+4)+2(3x+4) ( Take 3xcommon from 9x2and 12x and 2from 6xand8)

=(3x+4)(3x+2) ( Write common factor once and other factors together )

Hence, the factors of 9x2+18x+8 are (3x+4)(3x+2).
