Lencho had lost all of his crops due to hailstorm in the novella ”Letter To God.” So, in desperation, he wrote God a letter requesting 100 pesos. The Postmaster was a plump and affable man who chuckled at first but then became serious when he saw this. He wanted to keep God’s confidence in Lencho alive, so he began collecting funds to assist Lencho.
In the guise of charity, he contributed a portion of his pay and received money from his workers and other acquaintances. He addressed a letter to Lencho and sealed it with the word ”GOD.”
