Solution

The correct option is A

neutral

Semiconductor

  1. It is a material whose electrical conductivity lies between that of a conductor and insulator.
  2. Its resistivity decrease with a rise in temperature.

n-type semiconductors

  1. They are intrinsic semiconductors.
  2. They are doped with group V elements like antimony, phosphorus, etc.
  3. Since elements of group V have five valence electrons, when an element from group V takes place of an atom from group IV, there will be an extra electron.
  4. So, here the majority of carriers are electrons.
  5. When a pentavalent impurity atom is added to a pure semiconductor to make it n-type semiconductor,
  6. It donates one free electron to the crystal, leaving a positive charge on the donor atom, the donated electron remains in the crystal in free state

Therefore, an n-type semiconductor is neutral.

Option A is correct.
