Solution

Given data

  1. The mass of the rocket is m=3.5×104kg
  2. Acceleration of blast is a=10m/s2

Rocket thrust

  1. Rocket thrust is a reaction force on the rocket due to the outflow of rocket fuel at a very high speed.
  2. Due to this thrust rocket moves in space.

Diagram

Calculation of initial rocket thrust

Now, the net force exerted on the rocket is F=Ft-mg, where, Ft is the upward thrust on the rocket.

Now, the initial thrust is

Ft=F+mg=ma+mgorFt=m(a+g)=3.5×104×9.8+10orFt=3.5×104×19.8orFt=6.9×105N.

Therefore, The initial thrust of the blast is 6.9×105N
