An electric kettle is rated as 25kW,250V. Find the cost of running the kettle for two hours at 60 paisa per unit.

The power of the kettle is, P=25watt.

Step 2: Power

Power is the amount of energy consumed by a circuit in a unit time.

Power is defined by the form, P=Et, where, E is the total electric energy and t is the time of current flow.

Step 3: Calculation of current unit

As we know, power, P=Et

So, total units consumed,

E=P×t=25×2=50orE=50units.

Now coast of 50units for two hours is, =

50×60=3000paisa

Therefore, the cost of running the kettle for two hours is 30 rupees.
