  1. Generally, a celestial body revolving around another celestial body is known as a satellite of the other celestial body if and only if the latter one is a planet.
  2. Like, the moon revolves around the earth, and the earth is a planet therefore, the moon is a satellite of the earth.
  3. But, when a celestial body is revolving around a star, it is called a planet. Eg: Earth revolves around the sun, which is a star. So, earth is called a planet revolving the sun.
  4. Therefore, any celestial body revolving around another celestial body is known as its satellite.
