Question

Calculate the number of charges to make one coulomb

Open in App
Solution

Step 1. Given Data,

q=1C

Step 2. Formula used,

q=ne

qis the total charge.

nis the number of charged particles.

e is the charge of each particle.

Step 3. Calculating the number of charges,
The charge is negative on an electron and it is e=1.6×1019C
The total charge required is 1 Coulomb.
Therefore q=1C
From the formula,
q=nen=qe.........(1)
Substituting the values in equation (1) we get:
n=qen=1C1.6×1019Cn=1×10191.6n=100×10171.6n=62.5×1017
Hence, the number of charges to make 1 coulomb is 6.25×1018.
