Yes, carbon dioxide is a good fire extinguisher because it neither burns nor supports burning.

As we put carbon dioxide on fire then it removes oxygen from there which causes the fire to get to stop because burning is the process in which oxygen is the main component of burning.

CO2 is filled with very high pressure in a cylinder once we open the cylinder the gas carbon dioxide comes out of the cylinder with high pressure that displaces the oxygen and fire get off.

Nowadays we have alternatives to carbon dioxide which is carbon tetrachloride(CCl4).

Therefore, the given statement is true.
