Solution

Atomicity:

  • Atomicity is known as the measure of the total number of atoms present in a molecule.
  • For the molecule consists of one atom, the atomicity of the molecules is defined as monoatomic.
  • For the molecule consists of two atoms, the atomicity of the molecules is defined as diatomic.
  • For the molecule consists of three atoms, the atomicity of the molecules is defined as triatomic.
  • However, a polyatomic molecule is also known as a molecule Which is composed of three or more covalently bonded atoms.

Classification of the given molecules on the basis of their atomicity:

  • Monoatomic: He,Ag.
  • Diatomic: F2,HCl.
  • Triatomic : NO2,N2O,O3
  • Polyatomic : C2H6(8atoms),P4(4atoms),H2O2(4atoms),P4O10(14atoms),CH4(5atoms)

Hence, the given molecules have been classified above, according to their atomicity.
