Solution

Complete the table.

Here, each big square represents the number of Ones 1.

Each row and each column has 10 small squares. Hence, each row and each column represents the number of Tenths 110.

Each big square contains 100 small squares. Hence, each small square represents the number of Hundredths 1100.

Use the information from the given boxes to find the values of Ones, Tenths, and Hundredths.

(a)

Consider the figure shown.

Since the big square is not completely filled with dots, hence the number of Ones is 0.

There are two columns completely filled with dots, hence the number of Tenths is 2.

There are remaining 6 small squares filled with dots, hence the number of Hundredths is 6.

Therefore, the number can be written as

0+210+6100=0.2+0.06=0.26

Hence, the number is 0.26.

(b)

Consider the figure shown.

There is one big square completely filled with dots, hence the number of Ones is 1.

In the second big square, there are three rows completely filled with dots, hence the number of Tenths is 3.

There are remaining 8 small squares filled with dots, hence the number of Hundredths is 8.

Therefore, the number can be written as

1+310+8100=1+0.3+0.08=1.38

Hence, the number is 1.38.

(c)

Consider the figure shown.

There is one big square completely filled with dots, hence the number of Ones is 1.

In the second big square, there are two rows completely filled with dots, hence the number of Tenths is 2.

There are remaining 8 small squares filled with dots, hence the number of Hundredths is 8.

Therefore, the number can be written as

1+210+8100=1+0.2+0.08=1.28

Hence, the number is 1.28.

Hence, according to the given data, the table can be completed as shown below:

Ones Tenths Hundredths Number
(a)0260.26
b1381.38
c1281.28
