Solution

Cultivation practices:

  1. Cultivation practices refer to all the processes involved in producing plant-based foods such as fruit and vegetables.
  2. The steps start with soil preparation followed by sowing, manuring, irrigation, weeding, harvesting, and finally storage.

Crop yield:

Crop yield is nothing but the measurement of crop produced per area of land.

The relation between environmental conditions, cultivation practices, and crop yield:

  1. Good cultivation practice is required to improve soil health, root growth, and overall the quality of planting.
  2. A proper cultivation practice leads to a greater crop yield by maintaining the environmental condition.
  3. In crop yield, the most influencing factors are soil fertility, availability of water, climate, and diseases or pests.
  4. These should be monitored and managed in an efficient way to get a high yield.
  5. Physical and chemical requirements vary from plant to plant. For example, Kharif crops like corn, maize, and rice need more water while rabi crops like wheat, barley, and mustard grow in less water. It should be maintained according to the requirement.
  6. Some fruits like oranges, and apples grow in low temperatures and hilly areas.
  7. Soil is the most important factor that acts as a medium. Therefore it should be rich in nutrients and have an optimum pH for getting a higher crop yield.
  8. Thus different environmental conditions should be balanced properly in order to get high yields.
