New Species:

1. When a group of individuals gets separated from their species for a long time and later evolves as different traits are referred to as a new species.
2. For example, a population of finches on the Galapagos has been discovered in the process of becoming a new species.
3. This is the first example of speciation that scientists have been able to observe directly in the field
