Mendel's law of segregation:

  1. It is also known as Mendel's third law of inheritance.
  2. The law was formulated by making crosses between parents with two different characters.
  3. It concluded that different traits are inherited independently of each other.
  4. This law states that:
  1. During the production of gametes, two copies of hereditary factors segregate.
  2. So the offspring acquires only one factor from each parent that re-unites randomly during fertilization.
