Role of microbes in Household products:-

  1. Production of curd from milk using lacto bacillus.
  2. The fermentation of dough is due to bacteria and its puffed appearance is due to the production of CO2 during fermentation.
  3. Cheese is also a product of fermentation or ripening, and there are different varities of cheese found.The holes of cheese is due to CO2 production.
  4. Antibiotics are chemical substances,which are produced by microbes.They treat deadly diseases such as plague, whooping cough,diphtheria etc.
  5. Pectinases and proteases are used to clarify the juices.
  6. Monascus purpureus is a yeast which produces statins, that are used for lowering blood cholesterol level.
