DL and BM are the heights on sides AB and AD respectively of parallelogram ABCD (Figure). If the area of the parallelogram is 1470cm2,AB=35cm and AD=49cm, find the length of BM and DL.

From the give figure we note that

Area of the parallelogram = 1470cm2

AB=35cm

AD=49cm

Areaoftheparallelogram=base×height

1470=AB×BM

1470=35×DL

DL=147035

DL=42cm

Areaoftheparallelogram=base×height

1470=AD×BM

1470=49×BM

BM=147049

BM=30cm

Hence, BM=30cm and DL=42cm is the correct answer.
