Muscles:

  1. Muscular tissue is a specialized tissue in animals which applies forces to different parts of the body by contraction.
  2. There are three types of muscles such as skeletal muscle, smooth muscle, and cardiac muscle.

Skeletal muscle:

  1. The striated muscle is another name for skeletal muscle.
  2. It is working under the control of an individual.
  3. Hence it is a type of voluntary muscle.
  4. It consists of bundles of muscle fibers called fascicules.
  5. The muscle is covered by an outer covering called sarcolemma.

Smooth muscle:

  1. Smooth muscles are involuntary muscles.
  2. These are non-striated muscles.
  3. These are spindle-shaped and have a single nucleus in them.

Cardiac muscle:

  1. The cardiac muscles are present only in the heart.
  2. These are also involuntary muscles.
  3. Cardiac muscles are striated in appearance.
  4. It consists of a single nucleus.
