Question

Does the electric field exert force?

Open in App
Solution

An electric field exerts force:

  1. Charged particles attracted or repel one another even if they're not in contact. We claim that charged particles generate electric fields.
  2. Charged particles are also the sensors that sense an electric field. An electric field exerts a pull upon energetic particles (charged).
  3. The magnitude of an electric field E generated by a charged particle at quite a location P is the electric force per unit partial positive (+) it produces on some other charged particle at a certain place.

Therefore, the electric field exerts a force on charged particles.
