Question

Explain Debye–Hückel Onsagar Law of the strong electrolyte.

Open in App
Solution

Debye–Hückel Onsagar law

  • Debye–Hückel limiting law is used to determine the behaviour of strong electrolyte.
  • It is not applicable to weak electrolytes.
  • Mathematically, it is written as
  • c=0bC

Where,

Λ0 is the limiting molar conductivity

b is the empirical constant

C is the electrolyte concentration

Graph representing Debye- Huckel Onsagar law

This theory was not applicable for the solution having higher electrolyte concentrations or with the electrolyte which produces ions of higher charges which are particularly unsymmetrical electrolytes.
