Solution

Oxygen Cycle

  1. The Oxygen Cycle is one of nature's most significant biogeochemical cycles, including the production, consumption, and usage of oxygen in the environment.
  2. The movement of oxygen through the lithosphere, biosphere, and atmosphere is a biological process.

Oxygen in the Atmosphere

  1. One of the most abundant elements on the planet, after carbon, is oxygen. Oxygen makes up about 21% of our atmosphere.
  2. During the process of photosynthesis, plants release oxygen into the atmosphere as a by-product. During respiration, both plants and animals use oxygen.
  3. Carbon dioxide is released by plants and animals during respiration, which is then used up by the plant during photosynthesis.

The three stages of the oxygen cycle are as follows:

Stage 1:

  1. Photosynthesis is the mechanism through which all green plants make food.
  2. Green plants employ carbon dioxide, sunshine, chlorophyll, and water to make glucose during photosynthesis.
  3. Plants produce oxygen as a by-product of this process.

Stage 2:

  1. . For respiration, all aerobic organisms utilize free oxygen.
  2. The body uses oxygen for a variety of metabolic reactions.
  3. Animals breathe in the oxygen created by nature, which aids in their development.

Stage 3:

  1. Animals breathe out carbon dioxide, which is released back into the atmosphere and utilized again by plants during photosynthesis.
  2. Atmospheric oxygen is now in balance.
