Resources are divided into two categories based on their origin: biotic and abiotic resources.

Biotic Resources:

  1. Resources obtained from the biosphere which have life are called biotic resources.
  2. Example: forests, wildlife, fisheries, livestock, human beings

Abiotic Resources:

  1. Resources that are obtained from non-living things are called abiotic resources.
  2. Non-living resources include land, water, water, air, and minerals such as gold, iron, silver, and copper.
