  1. Aestivation is the association of sepals and petals in floral buds when it comes to different individuals of the whorl.
  2. It is an important tool for identifying flowers.
  3. There are five varieties of aestivation: Valvate, Imbricate, Twisted, Vexillary, and Quincuncial.

Twisted Aestivation

  1. In Twisted Aestivation, one edge of a petal covers the adjacent petal, while the other border is covered by another petal.
  2. The margins of one petal overlap those of the next, and the margins of the next overlap those of the next.
  3. Example: Ladyfinger, Hibiscus, Cotton, and China rose.
