Neutralization:

  1. A neutralization reaction is a chemical process in which an acid and a base combine to produce salt and water as the end products.
  2. There is a chemical reaction when alkali and acid are together.
  3. After the acid and alkali have neutralized one another, the neutralization process takes place.
  4. It is possible to neutralize anything gradually.
  5. A neutralization process causes acid rain.

Example:

HCl(aq)+NaOH(aq)NaCl(aq)+H2O(l)HNO3(aq)+KOH(aq)KNO3(aq)+H2O(l)

(1) Acidity:

  1. As indigestion generates a lot of acids, the stomach becomes acidic. By consuming antacids like milk of magnesia, this can be managed.

(2) Ant's ring:

  1. Formic acid is released into the skin by an ant's sting. Baking soda can be used or calamine lotion applied to neutralize it.
