Question

___________increases with the increase in H+ ions.

Open in App
Solution

Acid:

  1. An acid is a material that in its aqueous solution generates the ionizable hydronium ion (H3O+).
  2. It causes the blue litmus paper to turn red.
  3. The pH range of acid is 0 to 6.9.
  4. As the concentration of H+ ion increases, the pH value decreases, and acidic strength also increases.
  5. Examples: Hydrochloric acid, Nitric acid, Sulphuric acid
  6. Sulphuric acid is strongest among all acids, its complete dissociation into Hydrogen and Sulphate ions is shown below.

H2SO4(aq)Sulphuricacid2H+(aq)Hydrogenions+SO42-(aq)Sulphateions

Hence, the Strength of acid increases with the increase in H+ ions.
