Find a quadratic polynomial each with the given numbers as the sum and product of its zeroes respectively. 14,-1

Open in App
Solution

Finding the quadratic polynomial .

Let α and β be the roots of a quadratic equation.

Sum of the zeroes

α+β=14

Product of the zeroes

αβ=-1

Substitute these values in the quadratic equation k(x2-(α+β)x+αβ), where k is any non-zero number.

=kx2-14x-1=k44x2-x-4=m4x2-x-4[wecanassumek/4asm0]

Hence, the quadratic equation is m(4x2-x-4).
