Question

Find and correct the errors in the following mathematical statements: 2x+3y=5xy

Open in App
Solution

Find and correct errors in the given statement.

An equation is a mathematical expression of equality between two algebraic expressions that have equal values.

Given, 2x+3y=5xy

Here, L.H.S =2x+3y.

Simplifying it further is not possible as the expression is in its simplest form and values of x and y are not known.

But, it is given that R.H.S =5xy

Thus, L.H .S. R.H.S.

So,for correct statement we need to replace either 5xy in RHS with 2x+3y

Hence, the correct statement is 2x+3y=2x+3y.
