Question

Find p(0),p(1) and p(2) for the following polynomial: p(t)=2+t+2t2-t3

Open in App
Solution

Step 1. Define a Polynomial

A polynomial is an algebraic expression in which the exponent on any variable is a whole number. Polynomial’s degree is the highest or the greatest power of a variable in a polynomial equation. The degree indicates the highest exponential power in the polynomial.

Step 2. Find the required value

Given equation p(t)=2+t+2t2-t3

Put the value p(0) in the given equation

p(0)=2+(0)+2.02-03=2

p(0)=2

Put the value p(1) in the given equation

p(1)=2+1+2.(1)2-13=2+1+2-1=4

p(1)=4

Put the value p(2) in the given equation

p(2)=2+2+2.(2)2-23=2+2+8-8=4

p(2)=4

Hence, p(0)=2, p(1)=4 and p(2)=4
