Question

Find the surface area of a sphere of diameter 3.5cm. Assume π=227

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Find radius of sphere

Diameter of sphere, d=3.5cm

Thus, radius of sphere, r=d2=3.52=1.75cm

π=227

Step 2: Find surface area of sphere

Surface area (S) of a sphere is given as,

S=4πr2

Thus,

S=4·227·1.752=38.5cm2

Therefore, the surface area of the sphere of radius 3.5cm is 38cm2.
