Acute diseases:

Such diseases persist for a very short period and do not leave any long-term effect on the body.

Examples of acute diseases:

Cough and cold, typhoid.

Chronic diseases:

Such diseases persist for a very long period, sometimes even for a lifetime, and leave a long-term effect on the body.

Examples of chronic diseases:

Cancer, tuberculosis.

Infectious diseases:

  1. These are also called communicable diseases.
  2. Such diseases are caused by some infectious agents or pathogens and are transmitted from an infected person to a healthy person.

Examples of infectious diseases:

Chickenpox, malaria.

Non-infectious diseases:

  1. These diseases are also referred to as non-communicable diseases.
  2. These are not caused by any pathogens neither they get transmitted from an infected person to a healthy person.

Examples of non-infectious diseases:

Diabetes, goiter.
