Hypothyroidism:

  1. It is a condition where the amount of thyroid hormone secreted in our body decreases.
  2. Thyroid hormone is known to regulate body metabolism.
  3. Thyroid hormone is produced by thyroid glands.
  4. Hypothyroidism is caused due to dysfunctional negative feedback loop of the TSH hormone (Thyroid-stimulating hormone) which signals for the secretion of thyroid hormone.
  5. Due to the low amount of T3 and T4 hormones (thyroid hormones) there is an increased secretion of TSH hormone.
  6. The TSH hormone is produced by pituitary glands stimulate the thyroid gland to synthesize thyroid hormone more.
  7. Hypothyroidism can lead to an increase in body weight, fatigue, dry skin, etc.

The following ways can be used to control hypothyroidism:

  1. Taking proper medicines prescribed by the physician.
  2. Avoid foods with high iodine content.
  3. By taking vitamin B-12 supplements as hypothyroidism can lead to vitamin B-12 deficiency.
  4. Refraining from soy products, kelp, etc.
