Conversion of Ethanol to Propan-2-ol:-

Step 1: Formation of Ethanal

When the Ethanol is reacted with Pyridium chlorochromate in$\left(\mathrm{PCC}\right)$in presence of ${\mathrm{CH}}_2{\mathrm{Cl}}_2$, the $1°$alcohol present gets converted to the aldehyde group.

Step 2: Formation of Propan-2-ol

The Ethanal is then treated with a Grignard reagent that has a methyl group and Magnesium bromide, followed by hydrolysis to form Porpan-2-ol.
