How to find the range of a function?

Open in App
Solution

Find range of a function

The range is found after substituting the possible x- values to find the y-values.

Consider a function y=f(x)

  1. The spread of all the y values from minimum to maximum is the range of the function.
  2. In the given expression of y, substitute all the value of x to check whether it is positive, negative or equal to other values
  3. the minimum and maximum values for y.
  4. Then draw the graph for same.

Hence, we can find range of a function putting the value of x in the function f(x), and the spread of maximum and minimum value of f(x) is the range.
