  3. Their role is very important in plant protection against pathogenic microorganisms as biological agents, which influence soil health.
  4. Humans use fungi for many purposes, including as food or in the preparation of food.
  5. Humans also use fungi for pest control. In addition, fungi can be used to produce citric acid, antibiotics, and human hormones.
  6. Fungi can be either beneficial or harmful to humans.

Harmful fungi: The negative effects of fungus

  1. Some fungi can cause different plant diseases as powdery mildew in peas and red rot on sugarcane, among others.
  2. Food items can get contaminated by the growth of fungus.
  3. They can poison the human body in the form of some mushrooms which may be poisonous.
  4. Aspergillosis: an illness brought on by the ubiquitous indoor and outdoor mold Aspergillus.
  5. Death hood (amanita phalloides): about 9 out of 10 fungi-related deaths are caused by the death cap mushroom, which causes liver failure and death (Amanita phalloides).
  6. Plague caused by pneumocystis (PCP) : The majority of PCP users have a medical condition like HIV/AIDS or take medications like corticosteroids that make it harder for their bodies to fight infection and disease.
