Solution

Use of Wind:

  1. Traditionally wind was used to propel boats and ships in the rivers and oceans.
  2. The wind was also used in wind-powered water pumps and for grinding grains.
  3. Therefore, earlier, windmills were used to harness wind energy to do mechanical work such as lifting/drawing water from a well.
  4. Today, windmills are used to generate electricity.
  5. In windmills, the kinetic energy of wind is harnessed and converted into electricity.
  6. The wind is still used in sailing and generating mechanical power.

Use of Water:

  1. Since the traditional times, water has been used for washing, cleaning, drinking, bathing, cooking, and several other domestic purposes.
  2. In modern-day, water is transported for public use through pipes, canals, and pumping stations.
  3. Water is also used in a huge amount for agriculture.
  4. In modern-day, hydroelectric power can be generated where dams are constructed to generate electricity.
  5. Waterfalls are used as a source of potential energy, which is converted to electricity with the help of turbines.
  6. A huge quantity of water is also used in industries.
