The main properties in mathematics are
- Commutative
- Closure
- Distributive
These are represented as follows:
Commutative: It states that the order of numbers in addition and multiplication does not matter. The end result will b the same.
If x and y are two numbers then according to the commutative property
x + y = y + x
x × y = y × x
Closure: The addition and subtraction states that the sum or difference of any two integers will always be an integer.
If x and y are two numbers then according to the closure property
x + y
x − y
The result of these two will be an integer
Distributive: This property states the application of brackets on the mathematical equation.
If x, y and z are two numbers then according to the distributive property
x × (y + z) = x × y + x × z
x × (y − z) = x × y − x × z
