Solution
White blood cells:
WBCs play a major role in providing immunity to our body.
They provide us protection against various types of foreign particles and pathogens.
WBCs are of various types - neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, monocytes and lymphocytes.
Amoeboid shape of WBCs:
When any pathogens enter our body and cause some infection, the white blood cells accumulate at the site of infection for the destruction of those pathogens.
The pseudopodia present in the WBCs help them to phagocytose the pathogen while the amoeboid shape of their body help them to squeeze through the very thin blood capillaries.
WBCs change their shape and provide us the protection.
